But wait, how does me listening to music make the world a better place?

That's a good question. We often forget that the world is made up of people and even a world in a good place filled with sad people is a a world in a bad place. So while making the world a better place might seem like a big task, people can start by making sure that they are personally being the best and happiest person they can be, and that's where music comes in. Music generally has a positive effect on people, one study found that "people who begin their days with songs are more cheerful and spend the rest of the day with renewed energy" (Scott, 2019).

So, instead of lashing out at people when you're angry, listen to a song that helps you get your emotions out. When you're sad, listen to a song that either lets you feel the sadness or lifts you up. Whatever the emotion someone is feeling, there's a song for that. If everyone in the world processed their emotions through music and didn't lash out on the people around them, the world would be a much better place! And if everyone listened to music that keeps them happy and productive, the world would be even better! Listening to music helps people process their emotions, so next time you're happy, sad, angry, or feeling any emotion at all, listen to some music (Heshmat, 2019).
